স্কুল শব্দটি শোনার সাথে সাথে আমাদের চোখের সামনে যে ছবিটি ভেসে ওঠে তা হচ্ছে শিক্ষক ছাত্রছাত্রীদের সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে তাদের পড়াচ্ছেন। অথচ স্কুল আর অভিজ্ঞ শিক্ষকের অভাবে আমাদের শিক্ষা ব্যবস্থা প্রতিদিন কেবলই পিছিয়ে পড়ছে।

সামাজিকভাবে দায়বদ্ধ কোম্পানী হিসেবে এবং শিক্ষা এই দায়বদ্ধতার কেন্দ্রবিন্দুতে অবস্থান করায় আমরা এমন একটি পথ অনুসন্ধান করতে চেয়েছি যাতে করে উন্নত শিক্ষা নিশ্চিত করা সম্ভব হয়। এই লক্ষ্যকে সামনে রেখে আমরা ‘অনলাইন স্কুল’ (পাইলট) চালু করছি।

অনলাইন স্কুল দেশের প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চলে স্থাপিত এমন একটি স্কুল যার যোগাযোগ রয়েছে ঢাকার নিকটবর্তী কোন স্কুলের সাথে। যেখানে শিক্ষকরা ভিডিও কনফারেন্সিং প্রযুক্তির মাধ্যমে ক্লাস নিয়ে থাকেন এবং যেখানে এই প্রযুক্তি ব্যবহার করে শিক্ষক ও ছাত্র উভয়ই একে অপরের সাথে আলাপ-আলোচনা করতে পারেন। অনলাইন স্কুলেও ছাত্রছাত্রীদের প্রয়োজনীয় বই ও শিক্ষা উপকরণ বিতরণ করা হয়।

৪ অক্টোবর ২০১১ তারিখে গ্রামীণফোন জাগো ফাউন্ডেশনের সাথে এর কর্পোরেট রেসপনসিবিলিটির (সি.আর.) অধীনে অনলাইন স্কুল বিষয়ক একটি চুক্তি স্বাক্ষর করে। বস্তির শিশুদের জন্য বর্তমানে জাগো ফাউন্ডেশনের তিনটি স্কুল রয়েছে। এর দু’টি রায়েরবাজারে এবং বনানীতে অবস্থিত। তৃতীয় স্কুলটি টঙ্গিতে (বড়বাড়ি, গাচাপাড়া) অবস্থিত। এই প্রকল্পের আওতায় দুই শিফটে দিনে এবং রাতে মোট ৮০ জন ছাত্রছাত্রী ক্লাশ করছে।

এই উদ্যোগের মাধ্যমে শহর আর মফস্বলে উন্নত মানের শিক্ষা প্রদান করা হচ্ছে। এইসব স্কুলের মডারেটর যিনি ক্লাস পরিচালনা করতে সাহায্য করেন তিনিও এই এর মাধ্যমে পেশাগত প্রশিক্ষণ লাভ করছেন।

আমরা এই প্রযুক্তি ব্যবহারে বেশ খানিকটা সমস্যার সম্মুখীন হচ্ছি তবে আমাদের সি.আর. টিম এই সব সমস্যা সমাধানে নিরলস কাজ করে যাচ্ছে। যদি এই উদ্যোগ সফল হয় তবে আমরা আগামীতে বাংলাদেশের উপকুলীয় অঞ্চলে নির্মিত ‘আলোকদ্বীপ’-এ (অনানুষ্ঠানিক প্রাথমিক শিক্ষা এবং ঘূর্নীঝড় আশ্রয় কেন্দ্র) এই উদ্যোগটি সম্প্রসারণ করব। এশিয়ান ইনস্টিটিউ অব টেকনোলজি এই উদ্যোগের ব্যাপারে আগ্রহ প্রকাশ করেছে এবং আমরা তাদের কাছ থেকে এর প্রযুক্তিগত দিকগুলোর বিষয়ে সহযোগিতা পাবার আশা করছি।
