Simply put, what do you want your new phone to be able to do? If you will primarily use your phone for making calls and texting, a Basic Phone is probably the best option for you. Why pay for Smart phone features you won’t use internet? Basic phones do not require a data plan, and are often FREE with a two-year agreement. Other features on these types of phones vary somewhat—some models may have simple camera technology, for example—but for the most part they are stripped-down, no-bells-and-whistles phones that prioritize affordability.
If you want the affordability and simplicity of a Basic Phone, but also some of the  more basic features available on Smart phones, like email, instant messaging or web  browsing, AT&T offers a happy medium: the Quick Messaging Phone. This type of phone often requires no data plan (unless it is internet capable), and comes fully loaded with features to make messaging to family and friends a little easier. Most models also come with a full QWERTY keyboard to make texting much easier than on  a Basic Phone’s traditional keypad.
If “basic” is the last quality you’d look for in a new phone, then a Smart phone is definitely the best choice for you. However, you shouldn’t jump  to conclusions if you find yourself scratching your head and wondering,  “What the heck is a Smartphone?” Maximum cell phone users may find the idea of “making the leap” to smart phone technology very over whelming. However, smart phones are becoming increasingly user-friendly, and the sales representatives at Car-Tel Communications are always  available to teach customers the ins and outs of smart phone features.
Therefore, you certainly shouldn’t automatically count yourself out of the smart phone loop just because you are unsure of your ability to learn  how to use one. You can! For those not in the know, a smart phone is basically a cell phone with computer- like capabilities. With addition to making calls and texting, smart phones allow you to wireless/ Wi-fi browse the web, check your email, download apps, play music, movies, TV shows, games, and more.
Now that you’ve decided on the type of phone you’d like to buy—a Basic phone, a Quick Messaging phone, or a Smartphone—the next step is to evaluate your options within that category.

Mobile phones have changed our life dramatically. We cannot ignore the contribution of cell phone in our every day work. Chatting, Mailing, Messaging, browsing and calling are the main functions of cell phones which are closely related with our life. To smooth our cell phone related work, the display plays a vital role. Displays are needed to show you the number of the person calling. Once we added text messaging & even email, a bit more space we need to see what we'd written.
The size and resolution of your new cell phone’s display screen may be important to you. For Basic and Quick Messaging phone users, the benefit of a large display screen is clarity and easier readability. For instance, the Symphony has a 5” touch screen display, just like many smart phones.
Some Basic phones with a “flip phone” design, like the AT&T Z331, also have an external display screen, so you can see who is calling or texting you before you flip the phone open to answer.
For smart phone users, display quality might be more of an important feature to consider. If you will be watching video or playing games on your smart phone, a large, high-resolution touch screen display like that on the LG Nitro or the Nokia-Lumia may be desirable. Smartphone users to whom video and gaming is not a big priority may be happier spending their money on a phone with a smaller screen, and more affordable graphic capabilities.
